Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations. Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. On the basis of these studies, develops and implements plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods. May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.

Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Industrial Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will support the B-2 and will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Analyzes the B-2 manufacturing process for opportunities to minimize waste, reduce cost, and optimize schedule.
Provides support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving, impactful solutions.
Works with program leadership to assess what-if scenarios and guide long-term strategic decision making
Generates metrics and conducts studies pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, staffing, performance, and product delivery.
Partners with IPT leadership and manufacturing to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence with the program and customers, even through unforeseen challenges.
Supporting the 2nd shift Air Vehicle Manager to include metric creation, data-driven recommendations, and be able to host meetings with multiple support groups.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Industrial Engineer:

Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 or more years of engineering or manufacturing experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 or more years of engineering or manufacturing experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance with program access.
Strong expertise using the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools
Critical Path identification

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
At least 1 year of demonstrated experience leading project teams
Experience with shop floor control systems
Experience/certifications in lean/process improvement
Experience with Python
CAM Experience

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
