Project and electrically responsible crane projects – Ghent, Belgium


Our client has more than 150 cranes (overhead cranes and harbor cranes) with a lifting capacity of 10 to 470 tons. 
Many of these cranes' dates back to the early years of our client, so that the cranes that were most heavily loaded are currently in need of replacement.  The cranes that have been structurally approved are converted electrically. The electric drive (rotor resistors) is converted to electric drives.
In this context, they are looking for a project responsible for the conversion of cranes, which is also responsible for the discipline of electric drives and installation for new cranes.

Job description
You will be employed in the crane construction cell of our client in Ghent. 
In this position you are project responsible for electrical conversions and new cranes, and responsible for the discipline of electric drives and installations per project.

Your role 
In consultation with the parties involved within our client, you lay down the basic requirements of the assignment.  These requirements, supplemented by the applicable standards, guidelines, good practices from previous projects, planning... Turn into a specification. You are responsible for the elaboration of the general requirements as well as for the technical part around electric drive and installation. You manage a colleague who represents the technical part of mechanics and steel construction.

The specifications will be discussed in detail with the potential suppliers, after which you will carry out a technical review of the offers received.

Based on the quotations received and the associated project costs, you make a total budget of the project.


In the post-order phase, you are responsible for:
1.    The general project management in which you are responsible for:
•    Compliance with contractual requirements
•    Follow-up and respect of the allocated budget
•    Respecting the schedule
•    Managing your colleague who represents the discipline of mechanics and steel construction

2.    The discipline regarding electric drives and installation in which you are responsible for:
•    The verification of the received engineering documents in the field of electric drive and installation.
•    The control of the plate construction, follow-up of tests
•    The control of the entire construction phase regarding this professional discipline
•    The testing phase and commissioning
•    The aftercare.


Deployable locations
•    Main location: Ghent -Belgium
•    Given the international nature of the supplier panel for new cranes, according to the status of the project (especially during the phase from construction to transport), you will carry out inspections and hold meetings abroad. 
 
Minimum requirements
•    Level bachelor electromechanics: automation; maintenance technology
•    Have a high working knowledge of electric drive and installations (reading single/ multi-line diagrams, checks in terms of content/ complete electrical files, ...) 
•    Being enterprising and proactive
•    Being able to work in a structured, punctual, and independent way.
•    Have good communication skills to express yourself both verbally and written in Dutch and English.
•    Knowledge of the following applications: 
-    MS Projects, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
-    CAD software eplan / ACAD.
-    KAE kabelberekening (BT caneco)
-    SAP
•    Work experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
