Senior Engineer - Refrigeration

As a Senior Refrigeration Engineer, you will be responsible for designing new and revised refrigeration products to meet company, customer, regulatory, and listing agency requirements.
This position will be based at our Kolpak facility in Parsons, TN* but will have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. **Relocation Assistance is available**
Major Accountability:
Fully designing a product line of remote condensing models from ½hp to 5hp with different packages and optional accessories.
Fully designing a limited product line of self-contained condensing unit models.
Ensuring refrigeration model designs are compliant with all regulatory and governmental codes such as US Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, Underwriters Laboratory, and others.
Working knowledge of different refrigerants and heat exchange principles.
Designing parallel rack systems; preparing associated wiring diagrams, piping drawings, and using CAD software
Providing technical refrigeration design and application expertise to Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Service
Working with sales to quote non-standard refrigeration systems based on customer supplied mechanical drawing and specifications. These include special voltage requirements, systems greater than standard 6 HP, redundant refrigeration, systems requiring multiple evaporators, multi-circuit rack systems, water-cooled rack systems and more.
Key Tasks:
Performing calculations to determine the refrigeration load for custom size walk-in coolers and freezers
Sizing and matching evaporator coils with condensing units to provide optimal balance with compressor, coil surface, air cubic feet per minute movement, controls, and all other components
Selecting purchase part components for condensing unit assemblies such as hermetic or scroll compressor, condenser fan, fan motor, fan blade, expansion valves, line sizes, thermostat, solenoid, receiver, suction accumulator, drier, and time clock required for optimum performance.
Prepare submittal drawings for sales for “special refrigeration” when needed.
Design angle iron or channel iron rack frames as required for special refrigeration.
Design detailed piping layouts for manufacturing for water cooled rack systems.
Create and enter Bills of Material for special refrigeration.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in refrigeration engineering design or related experience. Will also consider a minimum of 8 years’ experience in refrigeration engineering design in lieu of degree.
Knowledgeable of a broad array of engineering principles, practices, and procedures in refrigeration design industry.
Considered an expert in refrigeration system design.
Routinely performs the most challenging refrigeration engineering assignments with significant latitude for unreviewed action.
Uses advanced refrigeration design techniques, modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the refrigeration engineering field and related sciences and disciplines
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
Must be able and willing to use required personal protective equipment (PPE), as needed.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
