Kent Houston Offshore Engineering LLC seeks a Principal Structural Engineer to work in Houston, Texas
Job Description
Perform analysis and design engineering work with an emphasis on offshore floating structures for oil & gas and wind markets, such as hydrodynamic analysis and strength and fatigue structural finite element analysis of hull (sizing and scantlings) and appurtenances. Assist with preparation of proposals and CTRs (cost, time, resource) scopes of work, establishing budgets and schedules. Prepare and review design calculations, drawings and acceptance tests, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. Interface with other engineering disciplines, fabrication yard and vendors. Design strengthening modifications and repairs for offshore structures.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Ocean Engineering or related.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE FOR POSITION: 7 years' experience with Structural analysis and design of hulls and appurtenances (strength and fatigue) for floating structures including Semi-Submersibles, TLPs, SPARs and FSOs + Experience with CLASS rules and Regulations and Industry COdes such as ABS, DNV, BV, API; and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software including ANSYS, SESAM/GeniE and OrcaFlex.
Alternate education: Master’s in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Ocean Engineering or related.
ALTERNATE EXPERIENCE: 5 years' experience with Structural analysis and design of hulls and appurtenances (strength and fatigue) for floating structures including Semi-Submersibles, TLPs, SPARs and FSOs + Experience with CLASS rules and Regulations and Industry COdes such as ABS, DNV, BV, API; and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software including ANSYS, SESAM/GeniE and OrcaFlex.
