Automation Technician

Emerson Chanhassen, MN Full-Time
If you are an experienced technical specialist in Automation/Robotics, Electrical/Control technologies with CAD experience looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Emerson Chanhassen location, you will utilize your knowledge of equipment design and build and fixture design to create solutions and support systems that meet the needs of Manufacturing Engineers, and Production personnel in a shop environment. You will also have the opportunity to work individually or as part of a team on Engineering projects.

AS AN AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN YOU WILL:

Understand and follow safety requirements for equipment design, equipment troubleshooting and required tools and equipment use
Work from verbal direction or documented requirements to design, build and implement custom automated manufacturing equipment or upgrade existing equipment
Collaborate with other companies and technicians on equipment projects
Participate as team member or project lead on external equipment build projects
Assist in existing equipment downtime support when needed using advanced troubleshooting skills on:
PLC’s and other machine control technology
HMI’s
Robotics
Pneumatics and hydraulics
Electronic components
Support Internal systems for routing and completing Fixture and Equipment
ECO’s
CAD PLM
Drawing releases

WHO YOU ARE:

You use your technical knowledge to evaluate and solve complex problems. You can work with others to develop solutions to problems even when the path forward may not be clear. You use your organizational skills to manage your workload and can adapt to changing priorities if needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Associate’s degree in technical discipline (Robotics & Electronics majors)
Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Equipment Design and Build or Equipment Troubleshooting and Maintenance fields
Able to lift up to 25 lbs and m ay require frequent intervals of sitting, standing and kneeling
Occasional need for travel locally or out of state
Legal authorization to work in the United States

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

1800 hours of technical education
Knowledge of:
3D CAD (Creo/Pro-e)
ECO processes
AutoCad Electrical
NEC (National Electric code)
NFPA 79 and 70E
Lockout tagout requirements
Project Management
