Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering functional homeroom section manager for the Autonomous Division Center of Excellence to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in San Diego, CA or Emerado, ND.

You will lead a functional homeroom team of systems engineers supporting one or more of the Specialty Engineering disciplines, which may include System Security Engineering / Cyber, System Safety, Human Systems Integration / Human Factors, Engineering Competitive Analysis (ECA), and/or E3 (EMI/EMC) in support of various Autonomous Systems and Advanced Design programs. For the Emerado location, the engineering disciplines may include Systems Engineering, Interns, or Configuration Analysts.
This position requires you to already have (and maintain) a technical lead or individual contributor role on a program, which is expected to be roughly 85% of the workload. This position does not include the 85% scope, rather it provides you the 15% scope of taking on the exciting challenge of being a functional homeroom manager.

Section manager responsibilities include:

Lead team of 8-15 systems engineers with typical grade levels ranging from T01 through T05 or A01 through A05, including college and high school interns
Provide personnel with career development, employee engagement, mentoring and coaching
Coordinate with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance evaluations to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career mentorship to employees and counseling employees on their performance as needed
Forecast and supervise work load for each team member
Develop and improve personnel and organizational technical skills
Work with Human Resources Business Partners to mediate and resolve personnel issues
Ensure process alignment, support program achievement reviews and deep dives, and assists in development and implementation of division objectives
Work closely with managers of other engineering fields, program managers, and IPT leads
Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the division and sector

You should demonstrate a dedication to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrate abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and developing. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills are required.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field from an accredited university, with 9 years of engineering experience or 7 years with a Master’s Degree.
Active Secret or higher clearance
Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a "Specialty" Engineering & Analysis competency (applicable to San Diego location only)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Systems Engineering (applicable to Emerado location only)
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of experience in lead or first level manager role in a technical engineering capacity
Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain program access
Demonstrated system ownership experience in requirements analysis, architecture development, integration, or verification
Experience with Anti-Tamper, Exportability, and an understanding of Adversarial Threats
Experience with MIL-STD-882E and Software Safety
Depth of Knowledge (DoK) level 3 or 4 in multiple System Security Engineering critical skills
Depth of Knowledge (DoK) level 3 or 4 in multiple System Safety Engineering critical skills
Depth of Knowledge (DoK) level 3 or 4 in multiple E3-related critical skills
Depth of Knowledge (DoK) level 3 or 4 in multiple Human Systems Integration or ECA skills

This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Emerado, ND, ND, USA.

Salary Range: $117,400 USD - $215,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
