JOB TITLE: SENIOR ENGINEER - CIVIL & STRUCTURAL – GEOTECHNICAL
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers in carrying out detailed engineering work for large sized projects, assuming entire responsibility for conceptual and detailed design and provide necessary technical information for procurement in compliance with tender specifications and within budgeted man-hour and project schedules.
- Support for Geotechnical activities.
- Review the ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, review contract requirements for project execution, identify requirements, scope of work pertaining geotechnical works, review specifications, design basis, Plot plans and foundation drawings.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals and develops site investigation programs, specifications, budget and schedules for projects of varying complexity.
- Prepare Inquiry Requisitions to subcontractors for ground investigation works, ground improvement works and piling works.
- Follow-up and coordinate with subcontractor for geotechnical survey works, ground improvement and piling work. Validate works executed by subcontractor and identify deviations from original work scope requirements.
- Review of factual geotechnical report and Interprets ground investigation data and performs analytical studies.
- Select foundation systems for structures and evaluates foundation bearing capacity and settlements for shallow foundations and pile capacities for deep foundations.
- Prepares/checks calculations to evaluate the major types of deep foundations, including driven piles, auger cast piles and drilled piers.
- Evaluates lateral earth pressures, Embankment and slope stability, retaining wall stability.
- Carries out studies for temporary support of excavations.
- Assesses of Ground improvement requirement and recommends mitigation measure for poor ground conditions.
- Interprets Site response studies, Soil-structure-interaction analysis and liquefaction evaluations.
- Provides input to drawings for earthwork and foundation and has capability to write Geo-technical design reports.
- Supervise the subcontractor works (like geotechnical investigation, ground improvement, piling, earthworks) on a project site as on required and provides technical assistance.
- Review of geotechnical investigation and ground improvement offer and preparation of technical bid evaluation for geotechnical investigation, ground improvement and piling contractors.
- Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertaining to the Geotechnical engineering discipline.
- Broad knowledge of the application of Geotechnical engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
- Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers. Provide input for their performance evaluation. When delegated, assumes a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks.
- Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality procedures. Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests; facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
- Comply to quality and design integrity assurance.
- Awareness on HSE requirements for Oil & Gas and refinery projects
- Coordinate with inter-discipline departments.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Sr. Geotechnical Engineer with master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering having 8 -10 years of experience in the field of geotechnical engineering preferable from a background in working for consultancy organizations in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Candidate should have exposure to Indian, BS, ASTM, Euro and other foreign codes/standards and practices pertaining to geotechnical investigation works and designs.
- Proficiency in use of software such as LPILE, PLAXIS, SLOPE, ALLPILE, PIGLET, GRLWEAP etc. is desirable.
- Experience in interpretation of geotechnical data & reports and coordination with civil/structural engineers is essential.
