Manufacturing Engineer (Food Safety)

ABBOTT MANUFACTURING SINGAPORE PRIVATE LIMITED Singapore Full-Time
Primary Function:

Coordinates the daily activities related to cleaning and sanitization within the manufacturing plan
Support environmental protection programs in conjunction with preventive maintenance and plant safety, metrology, and industrial hygiene to work effectively and to meet the compliance requirements of the Regulatory Agency.
Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs.
Directs the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.
Train site personnel and contractors on GMP requirements.
Reports and presents activities, issues and recommendations to manager or Head of Department.
Ensures appropriate controls are in place for effective operations within area of responsibility.

Major Responsibilities:

Collaborate with site and regional hygienist/microbiologist in driving cleaning and sanitization programs and building governance around complete adherence to policies.
Understand and own Environment Monitoring Plan with zoning concept to review effectiveness of current program for need of changes.
Motivate, develop, and train employees for the facility and from third party as part of food safety program and good manufacturing and cleaning practices.
Responsible in setting up governance program to maintain workplace hygiene keeping checks on all possible quality hazards and by tracking effectiveness of the programs.
Resolve quality issues, ensure correction action plans are initiated and monitored.
Track and assist department in achieving company's KPIs.
Represents Operations in Microbiological Environmental Monitoring Program, monitor plant data & performance for trends as they relate to Quality & Food Safety.
Initiate projects to improve the quality, efficiency and safety of the lines and departments.
Guide for specification and selection of manufacturing/equipment and product contact surfaces and ensure that the new equipment meets the food safety requirements of the product and packaging.
Responsible for completing documentation in a timely manner while complying with Quality standards.
Learns to identify Manufacturing process defects (scrap, non-conforming material, customer complaints) by dispositioning non-conforming material, assisting in identify of primary root causes and understanding corrective and preventive actions.
May be responsible for working with process owner to bound product stops and document release criteria.
May be responsible for providing input to risk analyses and FMEAs.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Chemical / Mechanical/ Electrical or Food Science/Biotechnology/Microbiology.
Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Process Engineering and/or Quality Systems required; or microbiological/hygienist background preferably within nutrition/pharma/food manufacturing plant.
Good understanding of production operations and zoning concepts.
Good understanding/knowledge of GMP/facilities requirements in a food processing and knowledge of microbiological pathogens and possible control measures.
Strong knowledge/experience in Quality systems and comfortable with drafting Quality reports/CAPAs.
Microbiological or hygienist background or worked in establishing food safety controls (HACCP etc) is advantageous.
